Acoustic Insulation for Industry
Introduction
In many workplaces, noise insulation is an essential to heath and safety.
Excessive noise can increase stress levels, hinder speech communication in
critical situations and over extended periods give to noise induced permanent
hearing loss.
Even moderate levels of noise can deny personnel acceptable standards of
comfort necessary to efficient work or to recreation.
Mineral Wool
The outstanding acoustic performance of mineral wool has made it the preferred
choice of material for a wide range of demanding acoustic applications.
Mineral wool combines the qualities of light weight with high acoustic
absorbency and high acoustic frictional resistance.
In areas where there is a high level of noise from plant, machinery, or pipes
transporting high velocity liquids or particle solids, a mineral wool lining
or casing can considerably reduce the environmental noise levels.
Noise reflected from walls and ceilings or from decks and bulkheads in marine
applications can similarly be reduced to acceptable levels.
Mineral wool materials work in two distinct ways to reduce unwanted noise;
either by impeding the transmission of sound through an element of the
structure, or by absorption of sound at the surface to reduce ambient noise
levels.
